The role of Jesus as High Priest is central to understanding His mission and the new covenant established through His sacrifice. In the Old Testament, priests mediated between God and the people, offering sacrifices for sin. Jesus fulfills this role perfectly, offering Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, thus bridging the gap between humanity and God.
In the book of Hebrews, the author elaborates on Jesus’ priesthood, comparing it to the Levitical priesthood and emphasizing His eternal and superior role. Jesus not only offers the sacrifice but also intercedes for believers, ensuring a direct relationship with God.
